Water in a vehicle is structural
Water inside a vehicle is a serious matter well beyond the appliance, because it reaches structure and insulation that will not dry. On a Dometic laundry appliance the usual sources are a hose fitting loosened by travel, a drain that has backed up from a full tank, or a vent putting moisture into a cabinet.
What you are seeing
- Water on the floor beside or under the machine.
- Damp in the cabinet around the machine.
- Water only during the fill, or only during the drain.
- Condensation and damp appearing in the cabin during a cycle.
- A musty smell from the cabinet.

- Not this fault: A wet load at the end of a cycle is a drying fault.
Most likely causes, in Dometic order
- Hose fitting loosened by travel vibration — Why ranked: First on this equipment. Every mile works at every fitting, and a slightly loose one weeps under pressure.
- Drain backing up from a full grey tank — Why ranked: Second: the water has nowhere to go and finds the easiest way out, which is often the machine or the nearest fitting.
- Vent disconnected or leaking inside the cabinet — Why ranked: Third. On a vented machine the moisture then condenses in the cabinet rather than leaving the vehicle.
- Door seal holding grit from vehicle laundry — Why ranked: Fourth. Sand and grit cut a seal, and it leaks at the door during the wash on a combination unit.
- Pump or tub seal failure — Why ranked: Last, and the only one on this list that is not correctable in the field.
What to check, in order
- Dry the area and note at which stage the water returns. — Because: Fill, wash and drain each point at a different connection.
- Check the grey tank level before anything else. — Because: A full tank explains a leak at the drain end and needs no work on the machine.
- Feel the hose fittings behind the machine for damp. — Because: Travel loosens fittings, and this is the leading cause on a vehicle.
- Check the vent hose is connected and undamaged on a vented machine. — Because: A disconnected vent puts moisture into the cabinet and looks like a leak.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water in a vehicle reaches wiring and structure quickly - isolate the machine, dry the area, and do not run it again until the source is found. Never work at the machine with water standing in the cabinet. Close the water supply before disturbing any fitting. Dry the cabinet fully before restoring power.
When this becomes a service call
Water appears from under the machine with dry, secure fittings. Damp is spreading into the vehicle structure. A vent hose cannot be reconnected or replaced. The leak continues after the tank and the fittings are cleared.
