Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The sealed refrigerant circuit is not homeowner-serviceable in any respect — do not cut, bend, braze or open any tubing, and treat oily residue or a hiss that changes when the compressor stops as a reason to call rather than to investigate. Never chip ice off an evaporator with a sharp tool; a puncture turns a defrost job into a replacement.
