On a Dacor freezer, the noises that matter are the ones that keep time with the compressor and the ones that come from inside the cabinet. Everything else is usually resonance, and resonance is fixed with a spirit level rather than a spanner. What sits behind that ordering: this is a luxury built-in line specified into a designed kitchen and expected to run quietly for a long time.
What you observe
- A buzz that starts and stops with the compressor — Something is resonating in sympathy rather than failing.
- A whir from inside an upright compartment — That is the circulating fan; it should be steady rather than rasping.
- The floor transmits the sound into the room above — Levelling and a firm footing usually deal with this entirely.
- NEAR MISS — loud hum and no cooling — That is a start-circuit problem and belongs on the will-not-start page.
Ranked causes for this brand and appliance
- Cabinet unlevel or in contact with a wall — Contact with a wall, a shelf or another appliance turns a mild vibration into a transmitted one, which is why the noise often seems worse in the next room. Ranked first here because this is a built-in platform with a lot of sensing and a lot of self-protection, so the machine usually stops itself for a reason it has detected rather than failing outright.
- Loose panel, hinge or stored items vibrating — A rear panel with a missing screw does the same thing and sounds far more alarming than it is.

- Clear the top of the cabinet and press each panel while the compressor runs — Second — A noise you can silence with your hand is a noise you can fix with a screw.
- Open the door and listen for the internal fan to stop — Third — The door switch cuts the internal fan, so a noise that stops with the door is inside the cabinet.

- Clear the top and sides of the cabinet — Remove stored items and confirm nothing touches the shell anywhere.

Unplug the freezer or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or reaching towards a fan; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
