The short version
On a D.C.S. refrigerator, water inside the cabinet and water on the floor are two different faults with two different first checks. - Water pooling under the crisper drawers — The classic blocked defrost drain picture; the water is meltwater that could not get out.

- Ice under the drawers rather than water — The same drain fault, caught at a colder point in the cycle.
- NEAR MISS — water only when the dispenser is used — That is a dispenser or supply-line fitting, and it is a different check.

- Supply line or its fitting weeping — A compression fitting behind the cabinet loosens with vibration and temperature cycling, and a slow weep evaporates until it does not. - Defrost drain blocked — Every automatic-defrost cabinet melts frost on a schedule and sends the water down a small drain to a tray; food debris and ice plug that drain routinely.
- Cabinet tipped forward, so water runs out instead of to the tray — Condensate management assumes a slight rearward tilt; a unit levelled flat or tipped forward sends water the wrong way.
- Evaporation tray cracked or displaced — The tray above the compressor collects everything the drain delivers and relies on compressor heat to evaporate it.
Check in this order, and why
- Dry the fittings behind the unit, then look again after a few hours — First — A dry-and-watch tells you whether the water is arriving from the supply without waiting for a puddle.
- Look for a small hole or channel at the base of the rear wall inside the cabinet — Second — It is the most common cause by a wide margin and it is visible without any dismantling.
- Put a level on the top of the cabinet front to back — Third — It is free, it takes a minute, and it explains a leak that appeared after the unit was moved.

- Level the cabinet with a slight rearward tilt — Wind the front feet down until the top slopes very slightly back.

Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or working near the tray; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. When this becomes a service call
Call when the drain has been flushed, the unit is levelled, the fittings are dry and the water still returns. One installation detail shifts the odds on this line: these units are integrated into cabinetry with a dedicated air path through a plinth or top grille.
