An ice maker on a Cuisinart refrigerator that has stopped producing is usually being starved rather than broken. What you actually see
- No ice at all, and the bin has not refilled — The chain has stopped somewhere between the supply and the mould.

- The maker cycles and dumps but produces nothing — It is being commanded correctly and receiving no water.

The causes in the order they actually occur here
- Water supply shut off, kinked or frozen — A supply line that runs through the freezer can freeze at its tip, which stops fill completely while everything else looks healthy. Ranked first here because these units are bought for a countertop or a small kitchen and are run intermittently, and an appliance that cycles rather than runs steadily fails at its switches and its fans first.
- Feeler arm raised or the maker switched off — The wire arm is knocked up by a bag of ice or a hand reaching into the freezer, and in the up position it means the bin is full.
- Freezer not cold enough to trigger a harvest — This is why an ice complaint is sometimes the first visible symptom of a defrost or airflow problem.
- Fill valve or its control not opening — The inlet valve is a solenoid and it is the part in the chain that actually fails, though less often than the things upstream of it.
The order of checks
- Trace the line behind the unit and confirm the valve is open and the tube is not pinched — First — It is the single most common cause and it is visible from behind the cabinet.
- Look at the feeler arm position and any on-off control on the module — Second — It costs a glance and it explains a large share of the no-ice calls.
- Check the freezer temperature against the USDA safe freezer temperature with a thermometer — Third — If the compartment is not cold enough, nothing further down the chain matters.
