What you are looking at
A washer that starts and then stalls is waiting for something it cannot get: water it cannot draw, a drain it cannot clear, a door it cannot lock, or a temperature it cannot reach. The reason a heating step that never completes heads the ranking on a Crossover is simple: when the mechanism does the work instead of a sensor, the mechanism is what wears — and that is where this platform fails. Taps, hoses, the filter and the door are owner work; the pump, the heater and the control behind them are not.
What you observe
- It fills and drains repeatedly without washing — A level sensing fault, or a drain hose siphoning the water straight out.
- It fills and then sits without tumbling — Usually a door lock or a control condition rather than a motor fault.
- It stalls at the same point in every cycle — A repeatable stall names the step that is failing.
- NEAR MISS — It finishes but leaves the load soaking — A drain or spin issue rather than a cycle fault.
What is actually wrong, ranked
- A heating step that never completes — Ranked first here: when the mechanism does the work instead of a sensor, the mechanism is what wears — and that is where this platform fails. Where the machine waits for a temperature it cannot reach, the timer stops moving and the cycle appears frozen with the drum turning normally.
- A drain that will not clear between steps — Ranked second: A cycle cannot advance to spin with water in the drum, so a partly blocked filter stalls the programme rather than stopping the machine.
- A load the machine cannot balance for the spin — Ranked third: A machine that repeatedly redistributes, refills and tries again looks stalled but is doing exactly what it was designed to do. - Feel the door glass at the stall — A cold glass with a stalled timer on a hot programme points at the heating circuit. Start here: on this platform it is both the most likely finding and the quickest to confirm.
- Look at whether water is still in the drum at the stall — Water present at the stall points at the drain path; a dry drum points elsewhere.
- Open the door at the stall and look at the load — A single heavy item balled against one side is the whole explanation.
