What no ice means on the ZPJ line
Poor ice and no ice are different faults. No ice at all points at supply, the switch or a compartment that is far too warm. Small, hollow or slow cubes point at restricted flow — a filter, a partly frozen line, or a valve that is not opening fully. The ZPJ line is a single model number in this brand’s catalogue, and the table below is the whole of it — if the rating plate inside the door does not read ZPJ, you are on the wrong page.
What you actually observe
- Production fell off gradually over weeks — Restriction rather than failure: a filter reaching the end of its life, or a line slowly icing.
- A block of ice in the mould — Overfill, or a harvest that did not complete. Either way the maker is stuck until it is cleared.
- Cubes that are cloudy and small together — Low flow and long dwell, which points at the supply rather than at the maker.
- Nothing since the cabinet was moved — A crushed supply line behind the unit is the classic consequence of pushing it back into place.
- NEAR MISS — water in the bin rather than ice — That is a temperature problem in the compartment, and it needs fixing before the maker is touched.
What no ice turns out to be
- Water getting in — Ranked first because everything else depends on it. Household shut-off, the supply line, the inlet valve, the filter and the fill tube are all in series, and any one of them stops production completely.
- Cold enough to harvest — Second. The mould thermostat decides when to eject, so a compartment running warm produces no ice while still keeping food acceptably cold.
- Controls and settings — Third. The arm, the on-screen setting and any holiday or energy mode all stop production by design, and all of them get changed by accident.
- The maker itself — Last. Module, mould heater, motor or thermostat — a genuine failure, but one that should be diagnosed after the supply and the temperature are proven, not before.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Prove the cold side first — Firm ice cream and no ice means water or the maker. Soft ice cream and no ice means the cooling fault is the page you want.
- Confirm the arm and the setting — Seconds to check and the most-missed cause on the whole list.
- Watch which stage fails — Fills but never harvests, harvests but never fills, or does nothing. Each sends a technician to a different part.
- Stop at the valve and the module — Both are measured on a live appliance behind panels, and on a compact cabinet both are worth more than a season of ice.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not thaw a frozen fill tube with a heat gun, a hair dryer on full or boiling water poured into the compartment: the plastic distorts, and a distorted tube leaks into the cabinet afterwards. If you close a household shut-off valve to work on the supply, open it again slowly and check the joint for weeping before pushing the cabinet back.

Where the owner line is on these models
Call when the water path is proven and the compartment is genuinely cold and the maker still will not produce. That means the shut-off open, the line uncrushed, the filter seated and in date, the fill tube clear, and ice cream that is firm. What remains is the inlet valve, the module, its motor or its thermostat, all behind a panel on a live appliance. Call sooner if you find water in the bin or under the cabinet, because a valve that weeps causes damage that outlasts the ice complaint. Quote the full number from the rating plate rather than ZPJ alone: the family letters are not enough for a parts counter on a single-model line either.
