What no ice means on the CCUL line
On the CCUL models fitted with an ice maker, no ice is a water problem or a temperature problem long before it is an ice maker problem. The maker will not cycle until its compartment is cold enough, and it cannot fill if the supply, the valve or the line is blocked or frozen. Check those two before anything is ordered. The CCUL line covers sixteen model numbers, all listed in the table below. Check the rating plate inside the door before you order a part, because the family name alone will not get you the right one.
What you actually observe
- Ice maker runs but the bin is always empty — Production below use. On small cabinets that can be normal rather than faulty.
- A thin sheet of ice across the mould — Overfill or a slow leak past the valve. Worth reporting because it points straight at the valve.
- Cubes are cloudy or smell of the cabinet — Old water in the line, or a filter overdue. Neither is a mechanical fault.
- Production stopped after a power cut — Some makers need the compartment to re-establish temperature before they will cycle again.
- NEAR MISS — frost forming all over the compartment — A sealing or defrost problem that will stop ice production as a side effect. Fix that first.
Ranked causes on these models
- Supply — valve, line, filter or a frozen fill tube — First on this family. The maker can only work with water, and the fill path is the part of the system that freezes, kinks, clogs and gets shut off by accident.
- Compartment not cold enough to cycle — Second. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below; a maker whose mould never reaches harvest temperature simply sits full of water and waits.
- The maker switched off at the arm or the setting — Third by frequency and first to check, because it costs nothing. A bail arm knocked up by a bag of frozen food stops production silently.
- Ice maker module, thermostat or motor — Last. It is a real failure mode and it is also the part people replace first, usually after the three cheaper causes have been skipped.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Start at the wall, not at the maker — The household shut-off, then the line behind the cabinet for kinks. Plumbing work elsewhere in the house is a common cause.
- Reseat the filter and draw water off — An unseated cartridge or an air lock after a change stops production overnight and is free to correct.
- Look into the compartment with a torch — A frozen fill tube or a mould full of ice is a complete diagnosis and needs nothing dismantled.
- Give it a full cycle before judging — Fill, freeze, harvest takes hours on a small cabinet. Waiting is part of the test.
Before you open anything

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never put your hand into an ice maker mould on a powered unit — the harvest motor moves without warning and the mould heater is live during the cycle. Water and electricity share the space behind these cabinets, so any supply work happens with the unit unplugged and the floor dry.

Call when water is proven to reach the cabinet, the compartment is genuinely cold, and the maker still fills without harvesting or harvests without filling — that is the module, its thermostat or its motor, and diagnosing them means working on a live appliance behind a panel.
