What a warm cabinet means on the CCBD line
Judge this fault by what the unit is doing, not by how cold it feels. A CCBD cabinet whose compressor never stops is failing to shed heat — coil, clearance, fan or ambient. A cabinet whose compressor never starts is a different investigation that ends with a technician. A refrigerator holds food safely at 40 °F (4 °C) or below. The CCBD line is a single model number in this brand’s catalogue, and the table below is the whole of it — if the rating plate inside the door does not read CCBD, you are on the wrong page.
What you actually observe
- Warm cabinet after the unit was moved or laid down — Compressor oil migration. Standing a moved unit upright before powering it on matters on small sealed systems.
- Frost on part of the back wall only — A partial frost pattern is a real diagnostic clue and worth photographing before it melts.
- The unit was overloaded after a shop — A packed cabinet blocks its own vents. Common, temporary and free to fix.
- Door was left ajar overnight — These cabinets take hours to recover, and the recovery itself looks like a fault.
- NEAR MISS — water pooling under the crisper as well — That points at a blocked defrost drain and has its own page for this family.
Most likely first
- Airflow, inside and out — Ranked first because it accounts for most warm cabinets that are still running. Outside: coil and clearance. Inside: vents blocked by food, or an evaporator iced over.
- Ambient conditions — Second on compact cabinets. A unit in a garage, a conservatory or against a cooker works against a room temperature the design did not assume, and it loses the argument in summer first.
- Door seal and door habits — Third. Gaskets harden with age and a warped door lets a thin line of humid air in continuously, which shows as poor cooling and sweating rather than as an obvious leak.
- Compressor, start relay or the sealed system — Last. A relay that has failed leaves a unit humming and warm; a sealed system fault is a technician diagnosis and a repair-or-replace conversation on a cabinet of this size.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Check the setting before anything else — Exposed dials inside the liner get knocked by shopping, and it is free to rule out.
- Look for the frost line — Frost that stops halfway across the evaporator tells a technician far more than a warm-cabinet complaint does. Photograph it.
- Clean and re-space, then leave it alone — Vacuum the coil, pull the cabinet out, unload the vents, close the door and do not open it for a day.
- Report the pattern, not the temperature — Warm all day, warm only in the afternoon, or warm since a specific event — each sends the visit somewhere different.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Cleaning a condenser coil, checking a gasket and unloading shelves need no panel removed at all. Do not attempt anything on the sealed system: refrigerant work is licensed work, the tubing is under pressure, and a compact cabinet gives you nowhere to stand. If the unit has been laid on its side, stand it upright and leave it before powering it on.
