What a leak means on the CCUC line
Do not mop and wait. Water under a freezer reaches flooring and the compartment at the back where the electrical parts live, so trace it promptly even though the cause is usually cheap and usually yours to fix. six model numbers share the CCUC designation. They are in the table below, and the trailing letters that separate them are finish and trim codes rather than different mechanisms — the fault below behaves the same across the list.
What you actually observe
- Water around the base of the door or lid — Drain overflow reaching the front lip, or a gasket channelling condensation forward.
- Steady drip at the back while the compressor runs — Tray overflow, normal in humid conditions and abnormal if the tray is cracked.
- Baskets sitting in water — The drain again, and a reason to act before the liner stains.
- Heavy frost plus water below it — The two halves of the same fault: air leaking in, frost building, and melt water with nowhere to go.
- NEAR MISS — a damp smell with no visible water — Check the tray and underneath before blaming the food.
Where the water usually comes from
- Blocked or frozen drain — First on this family. Melt water depends on one small drain staying clear; block it with debris or freeze it and the water backs up into the compartment rather than running to the tray.
- Tray overflow, displacement or cracking — Second. The tray sits over the compressor so the heat evaporates the water; knock it askew during a move or crack it with age and that water lands on the floor.
- Seal letting humid air in — Third. Warm damp air entering past a hardened gasket condenses and freezes, and when the cabinet defrosts that becomes free water. It is worse in summer, which is the tell.
- Ice melting after a warm spell or a door left open — Last. Not a fault at all, but it produces exactly the same puddle and it is worth ruling out before anything is dismantled.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Time the water — Cyclic water is defrost water and points at the drain. Water that appeared once after a warm spell is thawed ice and points at nothing.
- Dry everything and lay paper down — Kitchen paper under the cabinet and inside it shows where the water arrives first, which no description can.
- Paper-test the seal — A gasket that no longer grips at one point lets in the humid air that becomes the water you are mopping.
- Flush the drain gently — Warm water down the drain hole, never a wire pushed hard: the tube below is soft plastic and punctures easily.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water on the floor and electrical parts at the back are a bad combination, so unplug before mopping underneath or pulling the cabinet out. Never clear a frozen drain with a metal wire or a heat gun: the tube is soft plastic and a punctured tube leaks permanently where nobody can see it.

Where the owner line is on these models
The owner line on these models is the drain and the tray. Clearing a blocked drain, thawing a frozen one, levelling the cabinet, reseating the tray and paper-testing the gasket are all yours and they resolve the large majority of leaks. Call when the drain blocks again within weeks, when the tray is cracked, or when water has reached insulation or flooring. Anything involving the defrost heater or its control is diagnosed on a live appliance behind a panel, which is service work. The six models listed share this diagnosis but not their part numbers, so have the rating plate to hand before the visit is booked.
