Check in this order, and why

- Confirm the transit hardware is out — Stop using the machine until they are out — it will not improve.
- Look at what the machine is standing on — Press down on the floor beside the machine — if it gives, it is contributing.
- Check the drum for movement in and out — A drum that grates or moves in and out against the shaft points at the bearing.
Before you open anything
Safety
Leave the door or lid interlock as it is: it is what stops the drum turning with the machine open. Keep the bolts if the machine may be moved again, but store them away from the machine. Get help moving the cabinet rather than levering it.
