The platform in short
the CERM line covers the eight model numbers in the table below and nothing beyond them. These model numbers form a single run, and a fault found on one of them is worth checking on any of the others. This family carries no measured component share, so the order below is argued from how the platform is built and what it costs an owner — not counted.
The problems these models actually have
- A sound that was not there before — A change in sound matters more than the sound itself — these cabinets hum, click and crack normally. Abnormal Noise or Vibration carries it.
- the CERM line running warm — Measure with a thermometer left in the cabinet rather than judging by feel — soft ice cream and a real failure are different problems. Go to Not Cooling or Not Freezing.
- Ice or water in the base — Condensation on the outside of the cabinet is not a leak at all, and separating the two takes a dry cloth. Follow Water Leak from here.
- Little, no, or hollow ice — Check the supply and the freezer temperature before suspecting the mechanism — neither needs a tool. See Ice Maker Fault for the CERM line.
Which problem comes up most, and why
- Rattles, hums and knocks — Head of the list. Compact cabinets sit in tight spaces, and on the CERM line contact and levelling explain most of it.
- Not cooling or not freezing — Second. It is also the one where the free checks pay best — airflow, the seal and the coils are all free.
- Water faults — Next after those. Clearing the defrost drain is free, and it is the answer more often than not.
- Ice maker faults — Fourth on this platform. A Comfee cabinet with a warm freezer produces poor ice long before it produces none, which is why temperature ranks ahead of the mechanism.
