The short answer
A Chillfoce compact refrigerator that has started making an unfamiliar noise is most often a cabinet standing unevenly, with something the cabinet is resting against close behind. Chillfoce units ship flat-packed and get carried up stairs on their side, and a cube that has been tipped needs standing time before it is switched on. What you observe
- A buzz or rattle whenever it is running — It starts and stops with the compressor, which is the clue.
- Gurgling or a trickle after it stops — Refrigerant settling and meltwater running. Normal, and not what this page is about.
- NEAR MISS - a grinding or screeching that rises and falls — Stop and unplug it. That is a bearing or a blade, and running it on turns a part into a repair.

- A cabinet standing unevenly — First on this cabinet: on three feet instead of four the whole shell rocks each time the compressor starts, and a soft floor or a carpet tile is enough to do it.

Call when the cabinet is standing free and solid, the tray and the panel are secure, and a new mechanical noise is still there. Call immediately, and stop using it, for grinding, screeching or any noise that arrives with a burning smell.
