A washing machine leak is located by when it appears: at the fill, during the wash, or at the spin. On a CBMmart washing machine the inlet hoses and the door seal account for most of them. That puts the door boot seal on a front loader at the top of the list here and a blocked detergent drawer or too much detergent at the bottom.
What you observe
- Water at the back of the machine at the fill — An inlet hose washer or a tap connection.
- A damp patch under the middle of the machine — The sump hose or a tub seal, and it needs the machine looked at.
- NEAR MISS — water standing inside the drum — That is drainage, and it has its own page.
The causes, ordered
- The door boot seal on a front loader — Grit and underwires cut the fold at the bottom of the boot, and the machine leaks from the front on every wash. A seal fault never announces itself — it just costs temperature all day — which is why it is checked early despite being unglamorous.
- Inlet hose washers or tap connections — The rubber washers harden and the connections loosen with vibration. This leaks only while the valve is open, which makes it intermittent. The supply side is checked in this position because it is easy to prove and it either is or is not the answer.
- A machine that is not level — An unlevel machine walks and splashes, and it loosens the connections behind it. Imported machines are frequently self-installed, and a machine that was never levelled or was pushed back onto its own hose carries that fault forever.
- A blocked detergent drawer or too much detergent — Foam and backed-up water escape at the drawer. It imitates a leak and it is free to fix.
The order of checks
- Note the stage at which the water appears — Fill, wash and spin each point at a different system.
- Dry behind the machine and run a fill — A tap or hose weep shows itself immediately with the area dry.
- Pull the detergent drawer right out and look at its housing — A blocked housing backs water up and out of the front.
The owner-side procedure
- Close both taps and dry the floor completely — A dry floor makes the next test meaningful and stops the damage spreading.
Tools: towels
- Clean the detergent drawer and its housing — Wash the drawer, then clear the jets in the roof of the housing.
Tools: soft brush
- Level the machine so it does not rock — Adjust the feet and lock them; an unlevel machine keeps loosening its own connections.
Tools: spanner, spirit level
- STOP before opening the cabinet for the sump hose or tub seal — That is a mains-wired cabinet with a heavy drum inside.
Power, panels and what not to do
Safety
Close the taps whenever the machine is not in use if a hose connection has already leaked once. Unplug before working behind the machine; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
When to stop and call
Call when the hoses, the drawer and the boot are all sound and water still appears, or when the leak is from underneath the middle of the machine. Call the same day if water is reaching an outlet, a timber floor or a downstairs ceiling.

What is deliberately not here
Generalized information: this describes the washing machine class, not your serial number. Anything tied to a chassis — pinouts, part numbers, diagnostic key sequences — is absent by design. A family- or model-level page, where one exists, is linked below and takes precedence. The brand overview page linked below covers the other problems on this machine.
