The short answer
A Candor compact refrigerator that is leaking water is most often a blocked defrost drain, with a drip tray out of place or overflowing close behind. Candor sells a single-door cube built down to a price, and the whole cooling job is done by a cold plate moulded into the back wall. The checks below are ordered to match, and the first of them needs no tools at all.
What you observe
- Water pooling under the salad drawer — Meltwater that could not reach the drain at the back of the liner.
- A puddle on the floor beneath the cabinet — The drip tray is overflowing, shifted or dry and cracked.
- NEAR MISS - water with soft food and a thick slab of ice — Then the cabinet has a cooling fault and the water is the evidence rather than the problem.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A blocked defrost drain — First on this cabinet: the drain hole is small, it sits at the lowest point of the cooling surface where crumbs and label paper collect, and once it closes the meltwater has to go somewhere - forward, into the cabinet.
- A drip tray out of place or overflowing — Second, and close behind: the tray only rests in clips above the compressor, so it shifts whenever the cabinet is moved and a tray half out of position spills everything the drain sends it.
- A cabinet standing nose-down — Third: these are light enough to be set on carpet, on a shelf or on a floor that slopes, and tilted forward the meltwater never reaches the drain at the back at all.
- A door seal letting humid air in — Last, and that is the whole point of the order: more incoming humidity means more frost, and more frost means more meltwater than the drain was ever asked to carry, so a marginal drain finally overflows.
Check in this order, and why
- Find the drain at the back of the liner and test that it runs — It is the likeliest cause and it clears in minutes, so nothing below it is worth doing first.
- Look underneath for the drip tray — Out of place, cracked or overflowing explains a floor puddle immediately.
- Check the cabinet is level or tilted very slightly back — A forward tilt sends water the wrong way along the liner floor, whatever else you fix.

- Flush the drain gently with warm water — Use warm water and a soft flexible wire only. Never force a sharp tool into the hole.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the cabinet before flushing the drain or reaching underneath it, because a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off and you will otherwise be handling water beside a live appliance. Never push a stiff or sharp probe into the drain: the evaporator tubing runs directly behind that wall and a puncture ends the cabinet.
When to call a technician
Call when the drain runs clear, the tray is seated, the cabinet is level and the seal drags on paper, and water still appears. Call at once if the fluid is oily or smells sharp rather than of nothing, because that is not defrost water and the cabinet should be switched off until it has been looked at.
