The short answer
When ice production drops on the Caf CCP family, the cause is more often upstream of the appliance than inside it — supply pressure, a shutoff that was never fully opened, or a filter past its life. The matrix below carries a single model tag, so there is no revision fork to work around on this family: what holds for that tag holds for the line. Small or hollow cubes point at flow; no cubes at all with a wet mould points at harvest.
What you can observe on these models
- Ice production stopped after a filter change — An unseated cartridge or an aftermarket filter that does not match the head restricts flow immediately.
- The bail arm is in the raised position — On arm-equipped models this is the off switch, and it is knocked up by a shifted bin more often than anyone expects.
- Water pools under the bin and refreezes — Overfill or a misaligned fill tube. It ends as a sheet of ice under the bin and a jammed auger.
- NEAR MISS — no ice and no cooling either — If the freezer is not holding temperature, the ice maker is a symptom. Work the cooling page first; the ice returns when the cold does.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Water supply restricted — shutoff, filter or line pressure — First: it is upstream of everything and it produces both of the common presentations — no cubes at all and small hollow ones.
- Fill tube frozen or misaligned — Second: once a fill overshoots, each new fill freezes onto the last until the tube is a solid plug and no amount of module testing will help.
- Freezer temperature too warm to trigger harvest — Third — and the reason a slow ice maker is sometimes the first visible sign of a cooling problem.
- Water inlet valve solenoid or screen — Fourth: the valve is the one electrical part in the water path, and its inlet screen silts up long before the solenoid fails.
- Ice maker module, thermostat or ejector — Last on this platform, because everything above it is cheaper to test and more likely to be the cause.
Check in this order, and why
- Empty the bin completely and look underneath — A sheet of ice under the bin jams the auger and stops delivery while production continues normally.
- Confirm water reaches the mould on a forced fill — Water arriving and then sitting unfrozen moves the whole fault to temperature rather than supply.
- Check the fill tube alignment — A tube nudged out of line overfills the mould edge and builds the plug that stops the next cycle.
- Compare cube size over a full day — Hollow cubes that stay hollow confirm restricted flow; normal cubes that stop confirm the harvest side.

Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before reaching behind the ice maker or removing a panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not chip a frozen fill tube or a bin sheet with a screwdriver: the tube deforms and the evaporator tubing behind it punctures easily. Warm air at a distance is the only safe way to clear ice on the Caf CCP family.

When to call a technician
Call when the fault survives a filter change, a full bin clear-out and a fill-tube thaw, or when the freezer itself is not holding 0 °F (−18 °C). A warm freezer is a cooling repair and the ice maker is only the messenger. Anything that needs the valve replaced at the back of the cabinet, or the module harness unplugged, is a service call on these models.
