Refrigerator faults cluster tightly: the cabinet will not start, it runs without cooling, it leaks, it is noisy, or the control is misreporting. Nearly all of them are diagnosed from the kitchen before anyone opens a panel, and the sealed system is the last suspect rather than the first. This is a heavy, well-made appliance with a fragile decision-maker on top of it, and that combination shapes the order below. The order matters more than the list, because the list is the same on every cabinet and the order is not.
What you observe, and where it is covered

What is usually behind it, in order
- Cooling and airflow faults — First, and first for a reason. On these cabinets the cooling class leads, and within it the defrost system rather than the compressor. Frosted evaporators, stopped fans, blanketed condensers and blocked vents. The largest single class of complaint on any cold appliance.
- Control, sensor and mode issues — Second. Drifted thermistors, lockouts and demonstration modes, which imitate almost every other fault on this list.
- Water and drainage faults — Third. Blocked defrost drains, supply fittings and displaced drip trays.
- Ice production — Fourth. Supply, filter and harvest faults, almost always upstream of the ice maker itself.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Refrigerant work is licensed work and no part of it belongs in a kitchen.
Where owner work ends
Anything on the sealed system, anything involving a scorched cord or a tripping breaker, and any leak from a pressurised water fitting is a service call from the outset. Airflow, drainage, seals, levelling, filters and mode settings are owner work, and between them they account for most of the complaints listed above.
