What this machine is like to own
A refrigerator is the one appliance in the house that never switches off, so almost everything that goes wrong with it is a slow degradation rather than a sudden failure. This is a compact refrigeration unit sold under a low-distribution marque, and the badge itself tells you very little: the class of unit under it — compact or undercounter, beverage cabinet, or full-size household — decides the whole ranking, so establish that first. Two complaints dominate: a cabinet that is no longer holding temperature, and water arriving where it should not. Most of what follows is caused by heat that cannot leave the cabinet or humidity that should never have entered it, which is why cleaning and sealing outrank component failure on almost every list here.

Where to start, whatever the symptom

- check the door seals with a sheet of paper, because a leaking seal shows up as constant running long before it shows up as warm food

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A refrigerator is heavy and top-heavy on its castors. Never work with your hands behind a cabinet that is not chocked, and never tip one alone. The sealed refrigerant circuit is not owner-serviceable. Do not cut, bend or braze any tube, and do not attempt to add refrigerant.
