The short answer
Ice faults are slow to diagnose because the appliance needs hours to answer any question you ask it. On Bosch KFD refrigerator that makes discipline matter more than skill: change one thing, wait a full cycle, and look again. Most of what gets replaced on these calls was never faulty.

Check in this order, and why
- First: confirm the freezer is cold enough to make ice — Ranked first because a warm freezer explains the fault completely and because it matters more than the ice does.
- Second: check everything that can switch the unit off — Arm position, the switch, the bin sitting properly in place. All free, all common.
- Third: follow the water — Household valve, line, filter, then the fill tube. Small hollow cubes are a restriction; nothing at all is a stoppage.

Safety
Isolate the appliance before any panel comes off, and shut the household water valve before touching a line or a filter head; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. When to call a technician
