The short answer
On Bosch TM microwaves the first question is whether the panel is lit. A dark panel is a supply question and is often solved at the outlet; a lit panel that refuses is the door or a lock setting. On the four models listed below that single observation splits the whole diagnosis before you touch anything.
What you observe on these models
- The door does not close with its usual click — Latch wear, and the most common single cause on these appliances.
- Nothing happened after a power cut — Unplug for a minute and plug back in: controls can hold a state that only a full power cycle clears.
- The clock needs setting before it will cook — Some appliances require the clock set after an interruption before any cycle will run.
- It works on one outlet and not another — Proves the appliance and condemns the circuit, which is worth knowing before calling anyone.

Check in this order, and why

- Second: test the door two ways — Close it normally and start; then start while pressing it closed. The difference between those results is the latch.
- Third: try individual keys — A panel where some keys work and others never do is a touch panel fault rather than a start fault, and that is worth knowing before calling.
- Fourth: stop at the cabinet — Never remove it on the four models below. The capacitor inside can hold a lethal charge long after the appliance is unplugged.
Before you open anything
Safety
Do not open the cabinet, and do not attempt to make a worn latch work by holding, taping or wedging the door. The interlocks exist to stop output while the door is open, and defeating them is the one modification that turns a broken appliance into a hazardous one. Unplug the appliance before any cleaning around the door and latch area.

When to call a technician
Call when the panel is lit, every lock is cleared, the supply is proven and the appliance still refuses - or when it only runs if you press the door. Latch and interlock work on the TM family is behind the cabinet, and the cabinet must not come off. A door that needs pressing is a reason to stop using the appliance, not a workaround.
