The short answer

- The machine pauses mid-cycle and waits — A pause with the drum still and the panel lit is a condition the machine is waiting on.
- A cycle runs far longer than it used to for the same load — Usually airflow, and usually gradual.

Causes, most likely first on the WQB family
- Airflow restriction building up — First on the three models below. It explains long cycles, stalled time and cycles that stop early with a warm load, and it is the cause that returns if only the visible filter is cleaned. If the machine has a lower access door or a condenser, that is the place that matters.
- Reservoir, prompts and other waiting conditions — Second, because they are free to check and they stop a cycle completely rather than slowing it. A machine waiting for attention looks identical to a machine that has failed.
