The short answer
A Blomberg that stalls mid-cycle is usually waiting for a condition it cannot satisfy: most often it cannot drain fully, or the door lock will not confirm. Both are owner checks that take under an hour. A failed control board is the last thing to suspect, not the first.
What you observe
- Water in the drum and time still on the display — The clock stops counting down, or adds time back.
- It fills and drains repeatedly without progressing — A fill-drain loop is the machine chasing a level it never agrees with.
- The door stays locked and the cycle will not cancel — The lock holds because the machine still believes there is water inside.
- It tumbles forever and never attempts a spin — Spin is gated behind a good drain, so this is a drain symptom in disguise.
- NEAR MISS - the cycle simply runs much longer — Load sensing and cold inlet water stretch cycles. A machine that finishes is not faulting.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A partial drain restriction — First here. A compact pump moves less water and stalls on a restriction a full-size machine would ignore. The machine fails its drain check and retries rather than erroring out, and that retry is the fill-drain loop.
- A door lock that will not confirm — Second, and an installation problem as often as a part problem. These live in closets where the door shuts against a tight frame; the catch wears and no step needing the door proven shut will run.
- A drain hose kinked or pushed too deep — Third. A hose inserted too far siphons, so the machine drains and refills itself without the pump running and the level never settles.
- A pressure sensing path that has silted up — Fourth: the small hose that reads water level traps condensate, and the machine sees a level that is not there. It imitates a drain fault, so it follows the drain checks.
- A control board or wiring fault — Last. Uncommon, not an owner repair, and convincingly imitated by every cause above it.
Check in this order, and why
- Cancel and select a drain or spin alone — If a bare drain also stalls, the fault is in the drain path and boards are irrelevant.
- Open the pump filter and clear it completely — The likeliest single cause, and free.
- Check the drain hose height and route — A siphon and a kink both look like a control fault from the panel.
- Press the door firmly shut and restart — A lock that clicks and releases at once has not confirmed.
What an owner can safely check
- Run a drain or spin-only programme — Towels down in case the drum is full. A bare drain that completes clears the whole drain path.

- Empty and clean the pump filter — Unscrew slowly into a tray, clean the housing as well as the filter, and turn the impeller by finger.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. If the drum is full and the door locked, drain it through the filter hatch rather than forcing the door - forcing damages the latch and releases no water. Never defeat the door lock to make the machine run, because that interlock stops the drum with the door open.
When to call a technician
Call when the drain path is clean, the hose correct, the door confirming, and the machine still stalls at the same point in every cycle. A repeatable stall at one step is information a technician can use directly. Call sooner if you smell hot plastic or it trips the breaker when it stalls: that is wiring or motor rather than sequencing, and it should not be retried.
