The short answer
The first thing to settle on a leaking KD cabinet is whether the water is condensate or supply water. Condensate is by far the more likely on this platform, because the drain path is short and easily blocked and every one of these cabinets makes water whenever it runs.
What you observe
- A stale smell alongside the water — Standing water in the base has been there long enough to go stale, which tells you the drain has been blocked for some time.
- Beads of water around the door opening — Warm room air meeting a cold surface. This is a seal or a door-alignment story rather than a plumbing one.
- Standing water inside, under the bottom shelf or drawer — Condensate that has not reached the drain at all. This is the commonest form on a compact cabinet.
- A pool on the floor under the front of the cabinet — Water that has run forward along the cabinet floor and out under the door.
Causes, most likely first
- A blocked condensate drain — First on this family by a wide margin. The drain hole in the cabinet floor is small, it sits where crumbs and label paper collect, and once it closes the water has nowhere to go but forward and out.
- A door seal that is letting warm air in — Second. Warm humid air reaching a cold cabinet condenses on everything it touches, and on a compact unit with a light door a seal that has taken a set produces a steady supply of water rather than an occasional bead.
- An overfull or displaced drip tray — The tray under the cabinet is shallow and it sits where a shove against the wall can move it. A tray knocked out of position empties straight onto the floor with nothing else being wrong.
- The cabinet standing out of level — A unit tipped forward runs its condensate to the front lip instead of to the drain, and one tipped sideways pours the tray out at the back. This is a real cause on a platform light enough to be moved and re-sited often.
Check in this order
- Find where the water starts, not where it ends — Dry everything, put paper down at the front and the back, and see which wets first.
- Close the door on a strip of paper at several points around the opening — A seal that does not grip explains a steady supply of condensate without anything being blocked at all.
- On a plumbed model, dry the fittings at the back and watch them — Last of the owner checks, and only relevant on the models in this family that carry a water connection.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water and a live cabinet do not belong in the same job - isolate the unit before you kneel down to it, and dry the floor before you stand anything electrical on it.
