The short answer
On BR models the honest first suspicion for a warm cabinet is the control setting and the door, then the condenser, and only then anything inside the sealed system. That is a different order from the brand-generic page, and the reason is the build: there is no separate evaporator compartment to ice over the way a full-size freezer does.
What you observe
- It only fails in warm weather or in a warm room — A compact cabinet has very little reserve. A platform that copes in a cool kitchen and gives up in a hot one is telling you the condenser cannot shed heat.
- One compartment is cold and the other is not — On models with a separate freezer section, cold in one and warm in the other points at airflow between them rather than at the compressor.
- The cabinet is warm while the unit is clearly running — You can hear or feel the compressor working, but the air inside never gets cold.
- Sweating or condensation around the door opening — Warm room air is reaching the cold surface, which means the seal is not closing along its whole length.
Causes, most likely first
- A condenser coil or grille blanketed in dust — Ranked first on this family. The condenser is small, it is close to the floor or the wall, and the clearance around it is measured in fingers.
- A door seal that no longer grips along its whole length — Second, and the cause owners most often miss. A compact cabinet loses its whole reserve to a small leak, and the seal on a light door takes a set if the unit has been transported or stored shut.
- The cabinet loaded past what it can cool — Packing a small cabinet full, or filling it with room-temperature stock all at once, asks for more than the platform has. It is worth ruling out before any panel comes off.
- Too little clearance, or a warm location — Placement is a genuine cause on this platform, not an excuse. Pushed tight to a wall, boxed into a cabinet run, or standing in a warm utility space, these units have nowhere to put the heat they remove.
Check in this order
- Feel the back of the cabinet for heat while it runs — A unit that is working but cannot shed heat feels hot at the back; one that is not pumping at all does not.
- Put a separate thermometer in the cabinet and read it after some hours — It separates a cabinet that is genuinely warm from one whose control display is wrong, and it costs nothing.
- Listen at the back for the compressor and any fan — Running and warm is a different fault from silent and warm, and this one check splits the list in two before any tool comes out.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. These cabinets are light enough to move alone and heavy enough to tip - empty it first, and pull it out rather than walking it on its corners.
