The short answer
This page splits a complaint that arrives as one thing: a door that will not latch, and a door that latches but does not seal. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A loaded dishwasher is heavier than it looks and its weight sits high; get help before moving it, empty it first, and never let a door take your weight. Do not remove a door from its hinges while the door is loaded, and never defeat a door switch to keep something running with the door open.
When to stop and call a technician
The line is whether the next step needs live testing, sealed-system access or a part you cannot verify. Call for anything under the trim that needs the door skin separated, and anything involving the sealed motor, or when:
