The short answer
On the Big Chill DWT dishwasher a leak is usually something inside the cabinet rather than at the door or the wall. The DWT table lists one model, so the approach below holds across every model in the table.
What you observe
- A line of water along the floor at the front of the door — The door boundary: seal, latch pressure or a door that is no longer sitting square in its frame.
- Water behind the machine and a dry front — A supply or waste connection, and the only one of these faults that can run whether or not the machine is in use.
- Foam coming out of the door — The wrong detergent or a spill in the base.
- Water under the middle of the machine only — The sump, pump seal or a hose clip inside the cabinet.
- NEAR MISS — water inside the tub rather than on the floor — That is a drainage fault, not a leak, and it is a different page.
Causes, most likely first on the DWT family
- Internal hoses, clips and the sump joint — First on this family — the DWT table lists one model — and the hoses inside a compact cabinet are short, tightly bent and clipped close to moving parts. A clip that has relaxed or a hose rubbed thin leaves water under the middle of the machine with a dry door and a dry wall.
- Pump or tub seal — Second: a slow weep that only shows during the wash step and dries between cycles. It is the fault most often found after a leak has been chased at the door for months.
- Door seal and latch — Third on this ranking, and instantly separated from the two above by where the water lands: at the toe of the door rather than beneath the cabinet.

Check in this order, and why
- Map the wet floor before drying it — First: front, middle or back decides the entire diagnosis, and the map is gone once you mop.
- Run a cycle with a sheet of paper under the cabinet — Second — paper shows the first drop and its position far better than a wet floor does.
- Ask what was in the last load and what detergent was used — Third, because one oily load can explain a single dramatic leak with no fault at all.
- Check door alignment and level last — Last of the owner checks, and the point at which an internal leak has to be confirmed with the machine out.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and water on the floor beside a live machine is the hazard that matters here. Shut the water supply before touching a fill hose or coupler. Wash water can scald, so let a cycle finish and cool.

When to call a technician
Call when the door and every connection you can reach are clear and water is still appearing under the cabinet: that is a pump or tub seal and it needs the machine out and inverted. Call immediately if water is reaching an electrical part, a floor void or a neighbouring cabinet — the building damage outruns the appliance repair quickly.
