Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The sealed refrigeration circuit is not a homeowner repair: it is under pressure, it requires recovery equipment and certification to open legally, and a system that has lost its charge has a leak that has to be found first. Do not puncture tubing, do not add refrigerant, and do not run a cabinet that is tripping its breaker.
When to stop and call a technician
The line is whether the next step needs live testing, sealed-system access or a part you cannot verify. Call for the sealed system, and any glass-door unit whose fault persists after the duty question is settled, or when:
