The short answer
Noise from a Bevoi BVI refrigerator is diagnosed by when it happens, not by how it sounds. On this family a noise that comes and goes with the fan is an evaporator or condenser fan story, one that tracks the defrost cycle is ice contact, and one that is continuous with the compressor is the only expensive answer.
What an owner actually sees
- A grinding or scraping that rises and falls with the fan — A blade contacting an ice ridge or a shroud that has shifted. It is the loudest of the common faults and the least serious.
- Gurgling and light hissing after the compressor stops — Refrigerant equalising. Normal, and a useful reference point for what this cabinet sounds like when nothing is wrong.
- A buzz or chirp that stops the instant the freezer door opens — The door switch cuts the evaporator fan, so anything that stops with the door is that fan or something it is touching.
- NEAR MISS — the noise arrives with a cabinet that is warming — Noise plus a loss of cooling is not a noise fault; it is a cooling fault that happens to be audible.
What it usually turns out to be, in order
- Evaporator fan blade contacting ice or a displaced shroud — First on this family. The blade runs close to its housing by design, so a modest ice ridge or a shroud knocked out of line during an earlier repair puts them in contact.
- Evaporator or condenser fan motor bearing worn — Second. A dry bearing growls under load and often quietens when the motor is warm, which is why owners report it as intermittent.
- Compressor mounts hardened, or the cabinet not level on the floor — Third and the easiest to eliminate. Rubber mounts stiffen with age and stop isolating the compressor, and a cabinet standing on three feet transmits everything it does into the floor.
- Drain pan loose, or tubing touching the cabinet or another tube — Fourth. A pan that vibrates on its seat, or a suction line resting against the shell, turns normal running vibration into a buzz that sounds far more serious than it is.
Check in this order, and why
- 1. Open the freezer door with the noise running and listen — If it stops, you are in front of the evaporator fan.
- 2. Time the noise against the cabinet's cycle — Note whether it runs with the compressor, appears in bursts every several hours, or is constant.
- 3. Pull the unit out and inspect the machine compartment — Look for a loose pan, tubing in contact with the shell and a condenser fan blade with debris in it.
Read this before touching the appliance
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not reach toward a fan blade to stop it or to feel for contact while the cabinet is powered, and do not hold the door switch closed with tape while your hands are inside the freezer.

Owner fix or service call
