Refrigerator faults cluster tightly: the cabinet will not start, it runs without cooling, it leaks, it is noisy, or the control is misreporting. Nearly all of them are diagnosed from the kitchen before anyone opens a panel, and the sealed system is the last suspect rather than the first. This is a heavy, well-made appliance with a fragile decision-maker on top of it, and that combination shapes the order below. Do these in order and you will either fix it or hand a technician a much shorter problem.

Causes, most likely first
- Cooling and airflow faults — First, and first for a reason. On these cabinets the cooling class leads, and within it the defrost system rather than the compressor. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Refrigerant work is licensed work and no part of it belongs in a kitchen.
When to stop and call
Anything on the sealed system, anything involving a scorched cord or a tripping breaker, and any leak from a pressurised water fitting is a service call from the outset. Airflow, drainage, seals, levelling, filters and mode settings are owner work, and between them they account for most of the complaints listed above. A diagnosis reached by elimination is worth acting on; one reached by guessing is not.
