Which of these you can fix yourself
Cleaning a condenser coil, clearing a defrost drain, levelling a cabinet, changing a filter and cleaning a gasket are owner jobs and they resolve a large share of refrigerator complaints. Anything that needs a meter on live terminals — a defrost heater, a thermistor, a start relay, a fan motor — and anything inside the sealed system is a service call. A cabinet that clicks every few minutes and will not run belongs in the second group.
Boards and inverter modules are model-specific and priced accordingly; filters, gaskets, hoses and pumps are ordinary consumables and are worth doing yourself.

Safety
Never defeat a door interlock or a safety switch to keep an appliance running, and stop at the first step that would put a meter on live terminals. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The sealed system is under pressure. Never cut, braze or open a refrigerant line, and never try to add refrigerant to a domestic cabinet.
