The short answer
Most drainage blockages on a Beko WTE are in the pump filter, where they can be reached. The ones that are not are usually in the short, wide hose that runs from the bottom of the tub to the pump - and that hose is where a sock or a small garment goes when it leaves the drum, because it is the one place large enough to hold it.
What you observe
- Draining has got gradually worse over weeks — Something lodged in the sump hose acting as a strainer.
- The filter comes out clean but the machine still drains slowly — The blockage is upstream of the filter, in the sump hose.
- The drum is full and the pump strains — A blockage - filter first, then the hose and impeller.
- Nothing is heard at the drain step — A dead pump, a thermal cut-out or a control fault.
- NEAR MISS - water on the floor as well — That is a leak; the water-leak page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Blocked pump filter — First, because it is the most likely and the only one an owner can clear.
- Garment lodged in the sump hose — Second, and the usual explanation for slow draining with a clean filter.
- Kinked or crushed drain hose — Third, and common after the machine has been moved.
- Obstructed pump impeller — Fourth, and often found alongside a loaded filter.
- Failed drain pump — Last, and identified by silence rather than straining.
Check in this order, and why
- Open the lower access panel and clean the pump filter — First, with the machine unplugged and a tray ready.
- Note whether draining got worse gradually or stopped suddenly — Second. A gradual decline suggests a strainer rather than a sudden block.
- Follow the drain hose for kinks and crushing — Third, and free to correct.
- Listen at the drain step for straining or silence — Fourth, because the two point at completely different repairs.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening the pump filter, and have towels ready: the drum may still be full and the water can be hot. Close both taps before disturbing a hose. Never tip the machine to empty it, because water reaches the electrics before it reaches the floor.

When to call a technician
