The answer first
On the F line the condenser sits where household dust reaches it easily, so on the models listed in the table on this page coil cleanliness moves up the ranking relative to the brand-generic page. A cabinet that will not hold temperature in a warm room and has a furred coil usually needs nothing more than a vacuum and an hour.
What the owner actually sees
- Food in the fresh-food section spoils faster than it used to — Short shelf life on dairy and salad is the earliest sign, and it appears before the cabinet feels warm to a hand.
- Ice cream has gone soft while ice cubes still look normal — Soft ice cream with solid cubes means the freezer has drifted a few degrees, not that it has failed. It is worth knowing that the models listed in the table on this page share this layout.
- The cabinet was moved or transported recently — Recent transport explains a surprising number of sudden cooling complaints.
- Frost is forming on the food rather than on the coil — Warm moist air is entering and condensing on the load. That is a door seal story rather than a cooling one.
- The fresh-food side is warm but the freezer is still hard — Freezer fine, fridge warm — the system is working and the distribution is not. That narrows the job enormously.
- NEAR MISS — the cabinet is silent and nothing is cold — That is a power, start-relay or control fault, and it belongs on the page for a refrigerator that will not run at all.
- NEAR MISS — only the ice maker has stopped — If the food is cold, the cooling system is fine. Go to the ice page.
The causes, ranked
- A thermostat or sensor reading the wrong temperature — Top of the list here. Control faults present as a cabinet that never quite reaches temperature with no visible frost and a clean coil. This is where the F line differs from the brand’s other lines.
- A door seal that no longer closes the cabinet — Second. A tired gasket lets in warm moist air all day. The machine can sometimes keep up in winter and never in summer, which is why this fault looks seasonal.
- A cabinet with no clearance at the back or top — Third most likely. Clearance is part of the specification, not a nicety. Without it the coil cannot reject heat at all. On these models the panel comes away before anything else does.
- A condenser fan that has stopped turning — Further down. Without rear airflow the condenser cannot shed heat, and the symptom is a machine that runs permanently and cools poorly, worst in a warm room.
- Overloading and blocked internal air vents — Rarer again. Shelves packed to the back wall stop the return air, create a stalled cold spot that frosts, and leave the rest of the cabinet warm.
Check in this order, and why
- Feel the condenser coil and check it is clean — A coil that is cool while the compressor runs is not rejecting heat. A coil under dust cannot.
- Ask when the cabinet was last moved — A recent move with a short standing time explains days of poor performance that then resolves on its own. It is one of the few places the models listed in the table on this page genuinely diverge.
- Run a full manual defrost and re-measure — A complete thaw is the definitive airflow test: if the cabinet cools properly afterwards, the frost was the problem.
- Look at the freezer rear panel for a frost sheet — Frost is the evidence: heavy, flat and covering the fan opening means the coil is blocked.

Safety
Switch the circuit off before any work, keep water away from the compressor compartment, and get a second person before walking a loaded cabinet away from the wall. Most injuries on this appliance are lifting injuries rather than electrical ones.

When to stop and book a visit
Call once the airflow checks are clean — coil, seals, vents, and a full defrost — and the cabinet still will not hold temperature. What is left sits behind the evaporator cover or in the sealed system, and neither is owner work.
