The short answer
A Beko BUFR column running as a refrigerator has no second compartment, so when it drifts warm everything inside it warms together and the usual compartment-by-compartment triage is unavailable. What takes its place is the installation: this cabinet breathes through the grille at its plinth, and in a kitchen run that grille is the only air the condenser gets.
What you observe
- The compressor runs almost constantly and the cabinet is still soft — Work is being done and none of it is reaching the food.
- The base grille is warm and the air behind it is still — Condenser heat with nothing carrying it away.
- Items near the coil are cold and the rest of the cabinet is not — Circulation rather than refrigeration: air is not moving through the column.
- A light frost on the rear wall that never clears — The evaporator is icing and its defrost is not keeping up.
- NEAR MISS - silent and warm — Nothing is running at all, which is a supply or start-relay fault.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Blocked condenser airflow at the plinth grille — First on an installed column, because the niche makes that grille the only air path.
- Door gasket not sealing along a full-height door — Second, and usually alignment: a tall door racks and seals at the top while standing off at the bottom.
- Evaporator fan not running — Third, and the reason the cabinet stratifies rather than warming evenly.
- Defrost cycle not keeping up — Fourth. Less common at fridge temperatures than at freezer temperatures, but not impossible.
- Sealed-system or compressor fault — Last, least common, and the only cause no owner check settles.
Check in this order, and why
- Pull the plinth grille and look behind it — First, because it is the likeliest cause on this configuration and needs no tools.
- Close the door on a sheet of paper at the bottom corner, then the top — Second. Grip at the top with release at the bottom is a racked door.
- Read the cabinet temperature — Third, because a little warm and barely cool are two different lists.
- Listen for the evaporator fan with the door switch held — Fourth, and the last owner-side check.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip ice off the evaporator with a metal tool - the tubing is soft aluminium and a puncture ends the cabinet. Do not lay a column on its side to reach the base, and do not attempt to draw it out of its opening alone.

When to call a technician
Call once the grille is clear, the gasket seals along the whole door and the fan runs, because what remains is a defrost component or the sealed system. Call immediately if you see oil at the base or smell burning - oil outside the tubing means the system is open.
