The short answer
A Beko BBM refrigerator that has started making a new noise is a bottom-mount cabinet with no ice maker anywhere in the family, and that absence is the first thing worth knowing: no code in the table carries the IM suffix, so fill hiss, harvest clatter and water hammer are all off the list before you begin. What remains is a short list of mechanical sources, and the cabinet itself tells you which one by when the noise happens.
What you observe
- A hum or drone that fills the room but comes from the base — Compressor noise resonating through a tall carcass - usually a levelling or contact issue rather than a failing part.
- A whir that stops the instant a door is opened — A compartment fan, cut by the door switch, and usually running into frost.
- A rattle from behind the cabinet — Tubing, a cable clip or the condenser grille resting against the carcass.
- A crack or a trickle once or twice a day — The defrost cycle: the liner moving as it warms, and meltwater running to the tray.
- NEAR MISS - noise with one compartment going warm — Then it is a symptom of a cooling fault and the cooling page comes first.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Cabinet rocking on uneven feet — First, because a bottom-mount carries its heaviest load low and in front, and a floor slightly out of true unloads a rear foot completely.
- Contact at the back of the cabinet — Second. Tubing or a grille resting on the carcass turns every compressor start into a rattle and takes a minute to find.
- A compartment fan striking frost — Third, and the one cause here that is also a warning about airflow.
- Hard flooring amplifying normal running noise — Fourth, and not a fault. The same cabinet on tile and on carpet sounds like two machines.

- Look and feel behind the cabinet while it runs — Third. Ease any tube, clip or bracket resting against the carcass away from it.
- Open each compartment in turn while the noise is happening — Fourth, and the step that separates a fan from everything at the base.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never defeat a door switch to watch a fan turn - it is an interlock and the blade is unguarded.
