The short answer
Water around Avanti TLW is usually a connection rather than a failure. On a compact top-loader the cabinet is lighter than the load it spins, so anything that upsets the balance moves the whole machine. Dry everything, run one cycle with paper under each corner, and let the machine tell you where and when.
What you observe on these models
- Water only while it is filling — Fill-stage leaks are on the supply side, which is the most accessible part of the machine and the easiest to fix.

Causes, most likely first on TLW
- The fill hoses and their washers — Hose connections are the most common washer leak and the easiest to confirm: they are accessible, they drip under pressure, and the water is clean. - Check both fill hose connections by hand — At the tap and at the machine, with the taps open. A weeping connection is usually a washer or a cross-thread rather than a hose.
- Inspect the door seal or the tub-to-cabinet seal — Run a finger right round the bottom of it and look for grit, a hair clip or a tear. The bottom of the seal is where everything collects.
- Put a level on the top of the machine — A machine that walks unseats hoses and moves against walls, so levelling is both a fix and a prevention.

Unplug the washer or switch off its breaker before removing any panel, and close the tap before touching a fill hose. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Close both taps before working on any hose connection, and mop the floor before moving the machine.

When to call a technician
