The short answer for D models
When an Avanti D dryer stops heating, the airflow path is the first thing to examine and the heating components the last. Lint in the filter housing, the duct and the vent hood between them explain most of the no-heat calls on this appliance.
Symptoms, and the ones that mean something else
- The breaker feels warm or has tripped — On an electric machine this points at the supply rather than at the appliance.
- On a gas machine, no click or whoosh at the start — The igniter or the gas valve rather than anything electrical.
- The vent hood outside is not warm during a cycle — No heat leaving, consistent with no heat being made.
- A burning or scorched smell before the heat stopped — Lint reaching a hot surface, and it is a reason to stop using the machine now.
- NEAR MISS — the drum does not turn either — Then this is a motor or belt fault and it belongs on the will-not-start page.
The ranking for this family
- Thermal fuse opened by a restricted exhaust — Ranked first because it is a one-shot safety device and because the restriction that opened it is still there after it is replaced.
- High-limit thermostat tripped — Another protective device responding to the same restricted airflow.
- On a gas machine, igniter failed — The commonest gas-side failure, and it is audible as a missing click at the start of the cycle.
- One phase of the electric supply lost — The drum turns on one phase while the heater needs both, which produces exactly this symptom.
Check in this order, and why
- Start with what the ranking makes most likely — Work down this list rather than starting where the fault seems loudest.
- Note whether heat lasts a few minutes and then stops — That pattern is a cycling thermostat or a high-limit responding to heat that cannot escape.
- Pull the lint filter and look at its housing — A blinded filter is the start of the chain that opens a thermal fuse.
- On an electric machine, check the breaker at both poles — Losing one pole turns the drum and leaves the heater dead, which is exactly what you are seeing.
Isolate it, and never bypass the protection
Safety
Switch the breaker off or pull the plug before any panel is disturbed, and treat the capacitor as charged. On a dryer the protective devices — thermal fuse, high-limit, cycling thermostat — exist because lint and heat share a cabinet. Bypassing one to get a load dried removes the protection that stops a restricted machine becoming a fire. Clear the duct instead.

The line on this appliance is the fixed panel. The filter, its housing, the duct, the vent hood, levelling and load size are yours. The fuse, the element, the thermostats, the rollers, the idler and the motor are not.
