Asko T Series Dryer is the scope of this page, and on it a machine that runs and will not heat points first at a lint filter that looks clean but is blinded. What the machine is doing
- The load is hot but still wet at the end — Heat without airflow: moisture is being warmed and not carried away.
- The drum turns for a full cycle and the load comes out damp — Tumbling is fine, so the fault is in heat or in air rather than in the motor.
- Cycles are getting longer month by month — Gradual loss is restriction building up somewhere in the air path.
- The outside of the machine is unusually hot — Heat that cannot leave through the duct stays in the cabinet, and that is a warning.
- NEAR MISS — the drum does not turn at all — That is a belt, a motor or a door switch, and it belongs on the page for a dryer that will not start.
Causes, most likely first on the T series
- A lint filter that looks clean but is blinded — A blinded screen chokes the machine exactly like a blocked duct, and it is free to fix, which is why it sits near the top.
- A blocked or crushed exhaust duct — This is the first thing to check on any dryer that has stopped drying, because everything else on the list is downstream of it. Restricted air means damp clothes and a machine running hot enough to trip its own protection.
- A thermal fuse or cut-out that has opened — On many machines the drum still turns with the fuse open, which is exactly the tumbling-but-cold picture.
- A failed heating element or its circuit — Elements do fail with age, usually open-circuit and all at once rather than gradually. No heat at all from a cold start points here once the air path is proved clear.
- Overloading, or washing that comes out too wet — It is not a fault at all, and it is worth eliminating before anyone takes a panel off.
What to check first, second, third
- Establish whether there is any heat at all, or heat that stops — None from cold is an element or a supply leg. Heat that quits mid-cycle is a protective device opening on temperature.
- Pull the lint screen and run water over it — Water that beads and sits rather than running straight through means a blinded screen, and that is free to fix.
- Check the load size and how wet it went in — Free, quick, and it explains a good share of complaints about drying times.
- Only then think about elements, fuses and thermostats — They are behind panels, they need a meter, and they are usually the consequence of the causes above rather than the cause.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A drum that is still turning takes a hand with it. Wait for it to stop completely, and isolate the machine, before reaching inside it. Leave every interlock and door switch exactly as you find it: each one cuts power to something for a reason.

When to call a technician
Here is where owner work ends: what you can see, reach and clear with the machine isolated is owner work; any test with a meter, and any work inside the cabinet with the drum or the blower exposed is not.
