The short answer
The Artt HS refrigerator family covers four listings in the roster below, and on that platform a cabinet that runs without getting cold is usually a delivery problem rather than a sealed-system one. Of the things that stop a refrigerator cooling, the two most common cost a part that fits in a pocket and the least common costs more than many machines are worth. Where the freezer still works and the fresh-food side does not, the sealed system is almost certainly fine and the problem is on the path the air takes between them.
The observables
- A sheet of frost across the rear wall of the freezer — Not the light dusting a freezer normally carries, but a solid layer. Frost in that quantity means the defrost cycle has stopped clearing it and the air path is closing.
- A door that does not pull itself shut from half open — A seal that has taken a set, or a cabinet leaning back too little, leaves a gap small enough to see past and large enough to run the machine continuously.
- The cabinet recovers overnight and warms again during the day — Door openings are the load. A machine that only just copes will hold temperature when the kitchen is quiet and lose ground when it is not, which points at capacity rather than a failed part.
- NEAR MISS — the freezer is too cold and the fridge is too warm — That pairing usually means the damper or the air split between compartments rather than a cooling failure, and it is worth ruling in before anything else is suspected.
Causes, most likely first on the HS line
- Airflow blocked by frost on the evaporator — Ranked first on the HS line, because defrost systems stall long before they fail outright, so ice builds quietly over weeks while the cabinet gives up a degree at a time, and by the time an owner notices the warmth the frost sheet is already the whole story. This label ships mirrored left- and right-hand cabinets, so anything that depends on how the door was hung or which way the machine was turned to fit the room deserves an earlier look here than it would on a single-hand line.
- Door seal or door alignment letting warm air in continuously — Second on the HS line: it is the cheapest cause to rule out and the most under-diagnosed one, because a gap that never shows itself when you are looking at the machine is open for every hour you are not.
- Defrost heater, sensor or control no longer completing the cycle — Third on the HS line, because it sits behind the frost it causes: the frost is the symptom you can see, and which of the three parts failed is the part of the diagnosis that needs a meter and the panel off.
- Sealed-system or compressor fault — Last on the HS line, because nothing in it wears in normal use, and nothing in it can be worked on without gauges and a licence, which is why it ends the owner diagnosis.
The order to work in
- Compare the two compartments before anything else — A hard-frozen freezer with a warm fresh-food side is an air-path fault. Both warm is a source fault.
- Check the door seals along their whole length — Close the door on a sheet of paper at several points and pull. Even resistance everywhere is a good seal; a point where the paper slides free is a gap running around the clock.
- Feel the condenser tubing for heat with the compressor running — Warm tubing means the compressor is pumping and the system has charge; tubing at room temperature while the compressor hums is the one reading that points at the sealed system.
Before you open anything
Safety
Take the plug out before the first screw, not after it: a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and the fan behind a cover starts the moment power returns. Never thaw an iced evaporator with a heat gun, a hair dryer on high or anything with a flame: the coil is aluminium, the tubing behind it carries refrigerant, and a puncture ends the repair and the machine together. Warm air or simple patience is the only owner method.
Models in the HS family — Written for the whole roster above rather than for one listing; where a page exists for one of these models it goes further than this one. Model numbers come from the platform data and are reproduced unchanged.

Where the owner side ends
Call once the fan runs, the coil is clear, the seals hold and the cabinet is still warm, because what is left is the defrost circuit or the sealed system and both need a meter in the first case and a licence in the second. A cabinet that is a few degrees warm can wait a day if the food is moved; one that is at room temperature cannot, and neither can a freezer full of food.
