The Artt HD refrigerator family covers a single listing in the roster below, and on that platform cold and water are checked before the assembly itself is suspected. Before anything is dismantled, the bin itself answers most of the question: what is in it, and what shape it is in. The shut-off arm, the freezer temperature and the supply line account for most of what turns out to be wrong.
The observables
- The bin is empty and the mould is dry — No water has arrived at all. That moves the whole shortlist upstream to the supply line, the fill valve and the inlet screen, and away from the ice maker itself.
- The mould is full of solid ice that never releases — Water arrived and froze but the harvest did not finish, which points at the ejector, the mould heater or the control rather than at anything to do with water.
- The ice maker cycles but nothing comes out of the dispenser — The cubes are being made and are jamming on the way out. That is a chute, flap or auger problem and the ice maker on this list is working correctly.
- The arm or the paddle is sitting in the raised position — Almost every ice maker has an owner-operated shut-off. A wire arm knocked upward by a bag of frozen food stops production completely and looks exactly like a failure.
- NEAR MISS — the whole freezer is soft and the ice is only part of it — If frozen food is soft too, the cabinet is not holding temperature and the ice maker is a symptom.
Causes, most likely first on the HD line
- Freezer not cold enough for a harvest to trigger — Ranked first on the HD line, because the assembly carries its own thermostat and waits for it, so a compartment that is perfectly adequate for frozen food can still be too warm to release a tray. This label covers one listing, so there is no variant to rule out first and the order below goes straight at the fault.
- Water supply restricted, frozen or shut off — Second on the HD line, because the whole supply path is outside the cabinet where nobody looks: a saddle valve part-closed, a line pinched behind the machine when it was pushed back, or a fill tube that has iced at its outlet all starve the mould.
- Fill valve or inlet screen failed or blocked — Third on the HD line, because the valve is electrically simple but its inlet screen collects scale and grit from the house supply, so a valve that buzzes on cue and passes nothing is nearly always a screen before it is a coil.
- Ejector, mould heater or the ice maker control failed — Last on the HD line, because these sit behind the evidence of a full mould that never releases, and telling them apart needs the module off the wall and a meter on it rather than anything visible from the bin.
What to check first, second, third
- Read the bin before touching the machine — Empty and dry, full of one block, hollow cubes, or a sheet of ice under the bin — each of those four states points at a different half of the shortlist for free.
- Trace the supply line for a kink or a shut valve — Pull the machine out and follow the line back to its valve. A line pinched behind the cabinet when it was last pushed into place is one of the most common finds here.
- Force a harvest and watch what the assembly does — With the machine running, a manual harvest shows whether the ejector turns, whether the mould heater releases the ice and whether the fill follows.
Before you open anything
Safety
Take the plug out before the first screw, not after it: a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and the fan behind a cover starts the moment power returns. Shut the water off at its valve before any fitting is opened and keep a towel ready, because the line stays pressurised briefly after the valve closes. Never chip at ice in a mould or a chute with a metal tool: the mould carries a heater and the chute carries a linkage, and both puncture easily..
Models in the HD family — The roster above is what this article generalizes over; a page written for a single model would go further than this one does. The numbers are reproduced from platform data rather than transcribed.

When to call a technician
Call once the arm is down, the freezer is at temperature, the supply is proven and the mould still fills without harvesting, because what remains is inside the module and it is replaced rather than adjusted. A freezer that is too warm to harvest ice is also too warm to hold food safely, so treat that finding as the cooling problem it is rather than as an ice maker problem.
