The Artevino refrigerator line covers six listings in the roster below, and on that platform cold and water are checked before the assembly itself is suspected. Before anything is dismantled, the bin itself answers most of the question: what is in it, and what shape it is in. A fill valve, a frozen supply line and a shut-off arm in the wrong position cover most of the rest.
What you observe
- The bin is empty and the mould is dry — No water has arrived at all. That moves the whole shortlist upstream to the supply line, the fill valve and the inlet screen, and away from the ice maker itself.
- The ice maker cycles but nothing comes out of the dispenser — The cubes are being made and are jamming on the way out. That is a chute, flap or auger problem and the ice maker on this list is working correctly.
- The arm or the paddle is sitting in the raised position — Almost every ice maker has an owner-operated shut-off. A wire arm knocked upward by a bag of frozen food stops production completely and looks exactly like a failure.
- The cubes taste or smell of the freezer — Ice absorbs odours from an open package and from stale air. It is not a fault in the ice maker, and an emptied bin plus better wrapping usually resolves it.
- NEAR MISS — no ice on a machine that was never plumbed in — Some cabinets ship ice-maker-ready without a water connection ever being made. Confirm a line was fitted before anything is diagnosed as broken.
Causes, most likely first on this line
- Freezer not cold enough for a harvest to trigger — Ranked first on this line, because the thermostat inside the assembly will not release a tray until the mould reaches its cut-out, so a compartment running a few degrees warm stops ice production with nothing whatever wrong with the ice maker — and a freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below. Nothing in the roster below splits these listings apart for this fault, so the order that follows holds across the whole label.
- Shut-off arm or paddle left in the raised position — Second on this line, because it is the one control on the assembly designed to be operated by hand, which means anything else in the bin can operate it too and nothing looks wrong afterwards.
- Water filter overdue or fitted incorrectly — Third on this line, because a filter well past its service life restricts flow enough to shorten the fill, which produces small or hollow cubes long before it stops production, and a cartridge that is not seated does the same thing immediately.
- Demand simply exceeding what the machine can make — Fourth on this line, because production is a tray at a time on a schedule of hours, so a household that empties the bin daily meets the design limit of the machine rather than a fault in it.
- Dispenser chute, flap or auger jammed with fused ice — Last on this line, because it is not an ice-making fault at all, but it presents as one and it is worth ruling out before the assembly is opened.
The order to work in
- Read the bin before touching the machine — Empty and dry, full of one block, hollow cubes, or a sheet of ice under the bin — each of those four states points at a different half of the shortlist for free.
- Confirm the freezer is actually cold enough — Put a thermometer in the compartment and leave it. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and a compartment above that will not complete a harvest reliably.
- Force a harvest and watch what the assembly does — With the machine running, a manual harvest shows whether the ejector turns, whether the mould heater releases the ice and whether the fill follows.
Safety first
Safety
The bin and the arm need no power off. Once the module or a panel is involved, unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker first: a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip ice out of a mould or a chute with a knife or a screwdriver. The mould carries a heater and the chute carries a flap linkage, and both are easy to puncture; warm water and patience cost nothing and break nothing.

When this stops being an owner job
Call if the cabinet also fails to hold food temperature, because then the ice maker is a symptom and the cooling fault is the thing that needs diagnosing first. Ice is a convenience and nothing here is urgent unless water is escaping, in which case the supply valve should be closed the same day.
