The short answer
On the Ariston ARWXF washer line, a water leak is worth working through in a set order: the door seal or boot, or too much detergent first, then inlet hoses, their washers or the drain hose connection, and only after those does the work that needs a meter or a teardown enter the picture. That order is written for a one-cabinet line and sequenced for how these models are put together, which is where it departs from the brand-generic article.
What you observe
- Water at the front of the machine, under the door — A front puddle is the seal or the detergent drawer, not the plumbing at the back.
- Water appears at the back and only while the machine is filling — Timing that tracks the fill puts it on the pressurised side.
- NEAR MISS — the drum is full of water and the floor is dry — That is a drainage fault, and the drainage page ranks those causes properly.
Causes, most likely first on the ARWXF line
- The door seal or boot, or too much detergent — Ranked first: a front-loader seal collects grit and laundry debris at its lower edge, and an over-dosed machine fills that seal with foam that walks straight out of the door — the two look identical on the floor and both leak at the front.
- Inlet hoses, their washers or the drain hose connection — Hose connections leak under pressure and then stop, so they explain a puddle that comes and goes with the cycle.
- The detergent drawer, or the standpipe backing up — A blocked drawer or a backing-up standpipe puts water on the floor at one predictable moment in the cycle.
- The pump filter cap or its housing — The filter cap is the quiet explanation for a leak that started shortly after someone cleaned the filter.
- The tub seal, the outer tub or a split internal hose — Last here, and the only cause on this list that is not owner work — a leak from the tub seal or a split internal hose only appears under the machine while it is running, and reaching it means the machine on its side or apart.
Check in this order, and why
- Pull the seal open all the way round and look at its lower edge — Grit, coins and tears all show themselves here, and foam residue tells you about the dose. Done first because it separates the likeliest causes before any tool is needed.
- Pull the machine out, dry every fitting and watch them through a fill — Second: it confirms or dismisses what the first check suggested.
- Pull the drawer right out and look into its housing, then watch the standpipe during a drain — Third, once the two checks above are clean.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or kick plate, and shut both taps before touching an inlet hose — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and a machine standing in water beside a socket is a genuine hazard. Dry the floor before you start rather than after. Never run a machine with a panel removed to see where the water comes from.

When to call a technician
Call when the hoses, the seal, the drawer, the standpipe and the filter cap are all clean and dry and water still appears, because what is left is inside the machine. Shut the taps between washes while you wait.
