The short version
On the Arieta ARBS refrigerator line, an ice maker that has stopped is worth working through in a set order: a clogged water filter or a failing inlet valve first, then a freezer that is not cold enough to harvest, and only after those does the sealed system enter the picture. That order is written for a single-model line and sequenced for how these models are put together, which is where it departs from the brand-generic article.
What the machine is doing
- Cubes are small, hollow or misshapen — Correct cycling on insufficient water. The mechanism is working; the water is not arriving.
- The freezer is cold but the ice cream is soft — A compartment running warm will hold food and still refuse to harvest ice.
- NEAR MISS — there is water in the bottom of the freezer — A fill that overshoots or a drain that has frozen is a leak question and has its own page.
What it usually turns out to be, in order on the ARBS line
- A clogged water filter or a failing inlet valve — Ranked first: a filter left in past its life or an inlet valve that no longer opens fully starves the mould, and the give-away is small hollow cubes rather than none at all — the machine is cycling correctly on too little water.
- The freezer is not cold enough to harvest — A freezer running a little warm stops the harvest cycle without stopping anything else, which is why the compartment temperature is checked before the mechanism.
- The water supply is off, restricted or frozen at the inlet — The supply side is checked early because a closed valve or a kinked line produces exactly this symptom and costs nothing to rule out.
- The shut-off arm, the ice bin or a control setting — An arm, a bin seated wrong or a setting left off is the explanation that costs nothing and is missed most often.
- The ice maker module, its heater or the wiring to it — Last here, and the only cause on this list that is not owner work — a module that will not cycle, a harvest heater that has failed or a broken connection to the freezer harness is replacement work behind a panel, with the power off and the part matched to the cabinet.
The order of checks, and the reason for it
- Check when the filter was last changed and run the dispenser into a jug — A weak or stuttering flow at the dispenser is the same restriction the ice maker is fighting. Done first because it separates the likeliest causes before any tool is needed.
- Measure the freezer temperature rather than trusting the display — Second: it confirms or dismisses what the first check suggested.
- Find the shut-off valve behind or under the cabinet and confirm it is fully open — Third, once the two checks above are clean.
Safety first
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel, and shut the water off at the supply valve before disconnecting anything — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and the ice maker harness runs alongside water fittings. Never thaw a frozen fill tube with a naked flame or a heat gun; warm water and time are the correct tools.

When this becomes a service call
Call when the supply side is proven good and the cycle still never completes, and describe which of the checks below you have already done — that is what decides whether the part is on the van.
