The short answer
An ice maker on the Arctic Wind ABMX refrigerator that has stopped is usually short of water rather than broken. The supply chain - valve, line, filter, fill tube - fails far more often than the mechanism, and most of it can be checked without tools.
What you see on the ABMX line
- The bin is empty and stays empty — No partial cubes, no water in the mould - nothing is arriving at all.
- Cubes are small, hollow or misshapen — Water is arriving but not enough of it, which is a restriction rather than a stoppage.
- A sheet of ice under the ice maker rather than in it — The classic signature of a fill tube that froze before the mould filled.

Check in this order, and why

- Second - Look for a plug of ice in the fill tube and a spill of ice beneath the mould — Ice below rather than in the mould is the signature of a tube that froze before it filled.
- Third - Note whether you hear a fill buzz at any point during the day — A buzz with no water is a valve or a supply fault; complete silence points at the module and ends the checks.

Safety
Power off at the plug or the breaker and turn the water off at the wall valve before touching the supply. A refrigerator is a heavy appliance to pull out for access, and doing it with a live water line still connected is how a small ice complaint becomes a flooded kitchen. Never bypass a door switch or run the machine with a panel off to watch the harvest.

When to call a technician
The line is water: everything upstream of the valve is yours to check and nothing downstream of it is. If the fill tube has frozen more than once, call rather than clearing it again - it is a symptom of a compartment or a valve fault that will keep coming back.
