The short answer
When the Arctic Wind ABMSL refrigerator keeps the cabinet cold but makes no ice, the fault is almost never the refrigeration. Ice needs water, a cold enough compartment and a mechanism that is switched on and not jammed, and those three are checked in that order.
What you see on the ABMSL line
- Production has slowed over several weeks — A decline rather than a stop, which points at a filter or a partly closed supply.
- Ice has a stale taste or smell — An old filter or a bin of cubes that have been sitting; not a production fault at all.
- The bin is empty and stays empty — No partial cubes, no water in the mould - nothing is arriving at all.
- NEAR MISS - the whole cabinet is warm — Ice is the least of it: work the cooling failure first and the ice maker will follow.

- Shut-off arm raised, or the ice maker switched off — Most likely here: It is the first check for the same reason it is the commonest: it costs nothing and it explains a bin that stopped filling overnight with no other symptom. Check in this order, and why
- First - Look at the shut-off arm and any ice-maker switch or panel setting — Arm down and the maker switched on is the baseline; anything else ends the diagnosis right there. That is the order the roster on this page dictates, not a generic sequence.
- Second - Trace the line from the wall valve to the back of the cabinet — Look for a closed valve and for a pinch or a tight bend where the cabinet was pushed home.
- Third - Note whether you hear a fill buzz at any point during the day — A buzz with no water is a valve or a supply fault; complete silence points at the module and ends the checks.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before reaching behind the ice maker or removing any panel - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never clear a frozen fill tube with a screwdriver, a knife or a hot-air gun: the tube and the mould beneath it are easily punctured and the evaporator is close behind. Warm water on a cloth is the only tool this job needs.

When to call a technician
Call when the cabinet itself is not holding temperature, because an ice maker is only ever as good as the compartment around it and chasing the mechanism while the freezer is warm wastes a visit. Otherwise call once the supply side is proven and the bin is still empty, which is the point at which this stops being a plumbing question.
