The short answer
When the Arctic Wind ADWSS dishwasher leaves grit or film on the load, the useful split is between water that never arrived properly and water that arrived and was not aimed. Filter, spray arms and inlet temperature cover almost all of it, and none of them needs a tool.

- Filter clogged with food soil — Most likely here: This is the fault that produces gritty residue on the upward-facing surfaces, which is the most recognisable single picture in dishwasher work. This is the stainless-panel line of the family; its finish siblings carry the same machine behind a different door, which matters here only where the door itself is part of the fault. The stainless door on this line is the heaviest panel the family is built with, which loads its hinges and its seal harder than the painted-panel siblings do.
- Inlet water not hot enough — Second: Detergent is formulated to work in hot water and does very little in cool, so a machine fed from a long cold run starts every cycle at a disadvantage.
- Circulation pump weak, or a wash motor losing pressure — Third: It is judged with the machine running and a panel off, which is where the owner-side checks stop.
Check in this order, and why
- First - Lift the filter assembly out of the sump and look at it — A screen furred with soil, or a coarse filter holding a label or a seed, is the answer and needs nothing but a rinse. That is the order the roster on this page dictates, not a generic sequence.
- Second - Run the kitchen tap until it is properly hot, then start the cycle — A noticeably better result on the next load points at inlet temperature rather than at the machine.
- Third - Listen for a strong, varying spray note during the main wash — A flat, quiet wash with arms barely turning after the filter and jets are clear points here.
Before you open anything
Safety
Power off at the plug or the breaker before any panel or the filter housing comes out. Never run the machine with the door interlock defeated to watch the arms turn: the interlock stops a full-pressure hot spray leaving the tub, and there is no safe way to observe a wash cycle with the door open. Shut the water off at the isolating valve before disturbing the inlet hose.

When to call a technician
The line on this machine is the sump: the filter, the arms and the loading pattern are yours, and the pump, the heater and the wash motor are not. Call the same day for any smell of burning, for a tripping breaker, or for water outside the machine, because those change the problem from a cleaning complaint into a safety one.
