Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker or unplug it before any panel comes off — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and the machine sits in a wet space where that matters more than usual. Close the hot-water shut-off under the sink before touching a supply fitting. Water in the sump can be hot enough to scald straight after a cycle, so let it stand before reaching in.
