The short answer
The ARU roster spans several capacity cores rather than one, so the cabinets it covers differ in how far air and meltwater have to travel inside them, and it lists two naming generations side by side, so cabinets of noticeably different ages share this page. The most common cause of no ice on a cabinet like this is not the ice maker at all. It is the supply to it, the temperature around it, or the arm and bin sensor that tell it to stop, and all three are reachable without tools.
What you observe on these models
- No ice at all and a dry mould — Nothing is arriving. The diagnosis is the water route: the shut-off arm, the supply, the valve or a frozen fill tube.
- A mould with water in it that never freezes — Water is arriving and the compartment is not cold enough to complete a cycle. That makes it a temperature fault wearing an ice-maker costume.
- Hollow, small or misshapen cubes — A partial fill. Low supply pressure, a restricted filter or a valve that is not opening fully all produce the same shrunken cube.
- Ice fused into one block in the bin — Slow production, or a thaw and refreeze event. The cubes sat long enough to bond, which means production has been marginal for a while.
Causes, most likely first on the ARU line
- Shut-off arm raised or bin sensor blocked — Ranked first on this roster: nothing about the cabinet looks wrong in this case, which is why it survives so many self-diagnoses.
- The compartment is not cold enough to complete a cycle — Ranked second on this roster: the mechanism will not harvest until the mould reaches its release temperature, so a compartment that has drifted warm stops production while looking otherwise healthy.
- Supply line, shut-off valve or house pressure — Ranked third on this roster: nothing arrives if the line is kinked behind the cabinet, the shut-off was closed after other work, or the supply pressure is below what the fill valve needs to open properly.
- Ice maker module or mould heater failed — Ranked last on this roster: reaching it honestly is a result, because it turns the question into whether the assembly is worth replacing.
- Body: The ranking here keeps the brand-generic order, and what the ARU line changes is the order of the checks beneath it: the roster spans several capacity cores, and a longer cabinet has a longer air path and a longer run to its drain.
Check in this order, and why
- Establish which generation of this roster you have — Two naming generations are listed together here, so cabinets of noticeably different ages share this page. Which one you own changes what a worn part is likely to be.
- Look at the arm or sensor path before anything else — Lower a raised arm, clear anything sitting in front of a sensor, and give it a few hours.
- Look into the mould for standing water — Water present and not frozen means the temperature is the problem. Work the cooling fault instead.
- Trace the line from the shut-off to the cabinet — Look for a kink, a closed valve and a line that has been trapped behind the cabinet. Pull the cabinet out to check properly.
Before you open anything
Safety
Switch off at the breaker before any panel comes off and before putting a hand into the ice maker housing, because the harvest mechanism moves under power and does not warn you. Close the household shut-off before touching a supply fitting; a line under pressure behind a heavy cabinet is difficult to stop once it starts. Use warm water on an ice plug, never a tool, and keep water away from the supply cord throughout.

When to call a technician
Call when cubes form fully and never release, because that pattern points at the harvest side and nothing an owner can reach will change it. Call immediately if you find water anywhere around the supply fitting, and close the household shut-off before you do: a leaking supply behind a heavy cabinet does far more damage than a week without ice.
