The short answer
When a YACR oven will not reach temperature, the question that sorts the list is whether it is heating at all or heating badly. The generic Amana answer cannot make that split for you; here it decides everything below.
What you actually observe
- The display counts down while the cavity stays cold — The control is fine and the heat is not arriving.
- Preheat takes far longer than it used to — Time it once so you have a number to compare.
- A bright scorch or blister on the element or the floor below it — An element fails visibly more often than not.
- The breaker tripped when the oven was switched on — Do not simply reset it twice.
Causes on the YACR listings, most likely first
- A failed bake element — An element that has burned through usually shows it: a blister, a break, or a bright scorch on the cavity floor beneath it. A broken bake element gives you a cavity that stays cold while everything on the panel behaves normally. The listings above differ by trim rather than by mechanism, so which trim you own does not move this ranking.
- A control left in a timed, delay or lockout state — The oven is working exactly as it has been told to, which is why nothing looks broken.
- A failed broil element masking the fault — On these models the broil element also contributes to preheat, so losing it gives you an oven that heats but takes far too long and never quite arrives.
- One leg of the supply lost — Ranked here on this family because a single-listing line shares one supply arrangement, so what varies is the installation rather than the appliance.
Check in this order, and why
- Look at the element with the oven calling for heat — An electric element should glow evenly along its length within a couple of minutes; anything else is a result. Keep the door closed and look through the glass.
- Run the broiler briefly and watch it — This splits an element fault from a control fault without any tools, because they share a board and not a part. Stop as soon as you have seen it.
- Put an oven thermometer on the middle rack — Only worth doing on an oven that heats at all, and conclusive when it is a calibration question. Let the thermometer settle for the whole preheat before reading anything from it.
- Watch the igniter through a full light attempt on a gas listing — How long it glows before gas arrives, or whether gas arrives at all, is the whole diagnosis. Do not stand with the door open.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A standard US household branch circuit is 15 A or 20 A at 120 V; a large appliance circuit is typically 30 A or higher at 240 V. An oven circuit is not one to work on live under any circumstances. If you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off, leave the building, and call the gas utility from outside.

When to call a technician
The line on these listings is the rear cavity panel. In front of it you are checking settings, the door and the breaker; behind it are live terminals and, on the gas listings, a supply you should not open. Call if the breaker trips again after one reset, because a circuit that trips twice is telling you something and it is not asking for a third try.
