The short answer

- A cabinet rocking on its feet — A freezer resting on three of its four feet puts every compressor vibration into the floor, and a timber floor amplifies it into the next room. Check in this order, and why
- Push each top corner and watch for movement — Free, instant, and a rocking cabinet makes every other noise louder than it is. Adjust it at the front feet, since that is the only adjustment these cabinets have.
- Open the door while the noise is happening — If it stops, you are inside the cabinet; if it carries on, you are not. Hold the door switch in with a finger to confirm it, since that is what cuts the fan.
- Press a flat hand on each panel in turn — Resonance stops under a palm and a bearing does not care. Work the door, the top and the kickplate.
- Look at the condenser fan from the floor — You are looking for debris against the blade and dust loaded on one side. Switch the power off before reaching anywhere near the blade.

Do not reach into a fan to feel for a blade: on the fan-cooled listings it restarts the moment the door switch is released. Empty the cabinet before you walk it out from the wall.
