The short answer
On a WD refrigerator, a water leak is most often a drain that is doing its job in the wrong place: the plug or the drain path is open when it should be shut, or blocked when it should be clear. The causes below are in likelihood order, cheapest first; working down that order costs less than starting with the part that sounds most alarming.
What you actually observe
- Water runs from the lid line when the lid is opened — Condensate collecting in the seal channel, which is usually a seal or a levelling problem.
- Water appears under the unit after it has been moved — Classic pooled meltwater tipping out of the cabinet floor rather than a leaking component.
- A puddle collects inside the compartment under the contents — Defrost water that has not reached the drain, or has reached a drain that is closed.
- Water is dripping while the unit is cold and untouched — NEAR MISS: worth checking the contents and any container inside before treating the cabinet as the source.

Isolate the unit before anything else. Unplug it or switch off its breaker, treat a capacitor as charged after the power is off, and get the cabinet and its lead dry before restoring power. A wet socket on a vehicle circuit is a fire risk long before it is a fridge fault.
